Brutal questioning or our testing of lenses
An experienced technician can easily just smell out the type of many lenses during processing, because the materials of different manufacturers emit specific (aromas) which are as recognisable as your favorite perfume. No setificates or packages can help if the workshop is full-flavored with (Chineese garlic 1,67).
To check the lens’ characteristics you have to perform complicated testing at a well-equipped laboratory the cost of which is many times as large as of the most expensive lenses. That is why expert examination makes no sense at all. But is it important to know exact physical characteristics, or are we interested in quality conformance? The latter is easily performed with the help of the comparison method or ordinary experiments.
The color tone of the lens’ edge and the covering is difficult to identify, because it depends greatly on lighting. But if you have some experience and a sample for comparison, you can easily define the lens’ origin, as a lot of brands have a specific unchangeable residual reflex’ tone.

The brightness of the light reflection and the expressiveness of the shade under the lens distiinctly accentuate the leader in transparence and, consequently, the quality of the antireflection coating which is very important at low light conditions (e.g. driving at night, in the rain, on the unlighted road).

A photochrome’s brand is easily identified according to its color. After darkening in a UV lamp or in the sun samples become obviously different. The most expensive extractive, which darkens in a car, is the only one which darkens in the light of some low energy lightbulbs. By the way, the speed of darkening and lightening of different samples is practically the same, but degrees and colors are different, as well as the number of cycles.

A time-honored beam compass, a spherometer and even an ordinary ruler allow you to compare the declared by the manufacturer tabulated data with real measures. While processing the edges the degree of mirrorlikeness and the appearing distinctive (pattern) are specific for the material with a definite refractive index.

While drilling out lenses for screw-fastening different materials produce different chip scrap, which shape depends directly on the lens’ strength, and, consequently, tells a good deal about the reliability of new glasses and comfort in their use.
Chipping, sometimes appearing during processing, is also specific for different manufacturers. (Nothing is secret, that shall not be manifest). This is about the process of tinting when unseeable by devices casting and surfacing defects reveal themselves.

The official control device in optics is a dioptrimeter. Inspite of some inconvenience, we always set this device for the maximum response level, i.e. two decimal places. As a consequence, a conclusion can be drawn about the manufacturer’s attitude toward the quality of production. Besides, just vicing a lens you can see the quality of its coating, and tensiometer’s additional control allows you to compare the mechanical durability of the materials of different brands.
We firstly fit all new brands of lenses into our own glasses, the glasses of our relatives, acquaintances and carefully explore their comments. But the main thing is that we see the result of usage.
If we (have luck), i.e. have defects, we collect damaged lenses, put them onto the bottom of the bag and carry for half a year together with the keys. Then we compare the conditions of the coating, count scratches and draw conclusions (not forgetting about the difference in the cost).
ОWe cool a box with different lenses in a freezer, take it out to a warm place and note down the time. In such a way, we get to know how quickly you will be able to see after coming inside in winter (the present day leader is 1.67HMC).

Lenses are very often damaged when the glasses are left on a dashboard of a car. We put a thermometer there, and lenses were put into a paint-spraying booth. The temperature was gradually increasing at a pitch of 5° under the control of a laboratory thermometer. Conclusion: never leave glasses with expensive lenses in a car. We know the exact types of such lenses.
Genius is simplicity. We are just good listeners. We get the most valuable and extensive information from our clients. They are different people having different jobs, habits and needs. The variety of conditions, in which they use glasses, is endless. Thanks, particularly, to our constant clients we become confident of the quality of offered by us services and materials. Come to us and tell us everything! We will be happy!
