Functionality of a rimless frame directly depends on the rigidity of the structure. The thinner is the frame the better as the whole load lies down on the lenses in cases of mechanical deformation or during accidents. It can be difficult to imagine, but we have assembled thin titanium sleeve-fastened glasses, crushed by a car wheel wthout serious damage, several times. In any case, the equipment of any optic workshop includes spot welding which allows to reconstruct the original fastening (just don’t lose any small parts, because a reliable junction is possible only with original alloys). If the temples of your screwed frame are wide, unbending and without flexes (springs), it is a necessity to have impact-resistant lens materials and delicate handling, especially, if you have a plus refraction for reading.
