The words progressive lense firstly mean modern technology in production of optical lenses. Researches and experiments have been invested as much as space programs during the last decades. WHAT IS A PROGRESSIVE?
A progressive lens is a technology which lets you have a meeting-your- needs lens. It is one thing to have a theory, even a very smart one, but a different thing is to put it in practice. What exactly do we need? No doubt, it is perfect eyesight for a long time. How can progressive lenses help you to preserve your eyesight and improve your life quality?
The first recommendation is to have several prescriptions. If a person needs different glasses for far vision and for reading, and the third pair is convenient for computer work, progressives can replace all of them. Moreover, one can choose lens power by bending the head or changing the height of the glance.A progressive lens looks like a usual one for passive onlookers, without any sections or little windows. All ophtalmologists recommend to do charging for the eyes regularly. A progressive lens can do it instead of a person. If one has poor eye accomodation (the ability to shift one’s gaze from distant to close objects) due to age-related changes, quality progressive lenses will improve the eyesight in several months time. At least the eyesight will be preserved. But if the problems are caused by overstraining (working on computer, with papers, with small objects all day long), there are special progressive lenses with the function of accomodation support which help to lessen the effect of intense visual work. This option is extremely promising for children, but to choose the best version you have to combine carefully medical supervision with the work of an experienced and considerate expert-optician.
Unexpected version - I don’t want to wear glasses.Most people under forty experience a necessity in wearing glasses. What should a person do if he/she doesn’t want to wear glasses due to some moral reasons but lines of a restaurant menu become deceitfully indistinct despite of all efforts and kilograms of carrot-blueberry smoothie. Order a zero lens with an image or sunprotective frame. Even trying on your glasses nobody would guess that there is a reading sector at the very bottom of the lens. Viewing field can be smaller than in standard glasses but they are eye-catching, your eyes are always full of life due to slight tinting. It’s worth it.
When there is no need in progressives
A lot of customers consider the price to be the indicator of quality. It isn’t always so. If you see well at different distances wearing one pair of glasses and have no problem with proceeding from remoteness to nearness, progressive lenses are not for you.

Make sure that your body and head positions are habitual when taking measures (a doctor or an optician takes measures in usual indoor conditions when you are sitting on a chair, then you take a half-sitting position in your favorite sports car and, no doubt, you are not satisfied with the result). The slightest details of your professional activities can be extremely important. Of course, the experience of a professional who takes your order is important. Feedback with the producer who has to give recommendations, instructions and MEASURING SCHEMES is also important. But the most important thing is the experience of the technician who performs your order.The accuracy of manufacturing needed for fixing progressive lenses is much higher than the requirements of the all-Union State Standards.
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF PROGRESSIVES
You need them if you constantly wear glasses and you need different distances vision. Choose universal design but point out the most important for you maximum and minimum positions in the distance and near. Each progressive lens is produced individually. So, take maximal use of the chance.
If you usually use glasses while driving or for the distances not farther than ten meters and you rarely have to take a glance near, at the dashboard or at a theater program, choose special design lenses with a wide range for distance vision and small for reading.
If you mostly work indoors, on a computer, at a desk serving customers, special office progressives can guarantee you the widest range of vision at a close and medium distance. You can feel as comfortable as possible at work but distant vision as well as different diopters for each eye are not applicable.
A practically standard lens with a bit of intencification at the bottom doesn’t allow your eyes to focus on a monitor screen or text. Natural movements of an eye (saccades) are preserved. So you get less tired and your eyesight is saved.

There are no peculiarities. You just need a quality prescription for distance and reading, and an experienced practitioner who can meet your needs.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET USED TO PROGRESSIVE LENSES
A long period of adaptation to the lenses is a thing of the past. If the prescription hasn’t changed, the period of adaptation will take minimum time and will involve getting used to turning your head in the direction of your glance and stooping your head while walking up and down the stairs.At the first stage of using progressive lenses it is enough to find the best distance vision and near vision at a fixed position. Close your eyes in turn. Move your head slightly to the right and to the left. Remember the best positions and tell the optician the results of your experiment.Be mostly careful while measuring and choosing if you have minus for distance and plus for nearness. Be very accurate about the position of the frame on your face if the diopter for distance is more than +3.0. These cases are very complicated in production and the exactness of manufacturing is very important. Keep to the producer’s recommendations, take doctor’s and optician’s advice. You needn’t make a lot of efforts and comfort is guaranteed.
